At Ventia, we’re passionate about making infrastructure work for our communities and we strive to do that in a sustainable way.

We recognise that every decision and action we take is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the people and world around us.

In our view, taking a sustainable approach is not only the right thing to do, it’s what our clients, communities, investors and employees expect from us.

That’s why we’ve embedded sustainability into our vision, our business strategy, our risk management, and our culture.

Under the leadership and governance of our Sustainability Council, we seek to:

  • minimise our environmental impact
  • leverage partnerships to deliver sustainable solutions
  • create stakeholder value through strong corporate governance
  • improve diversity and inclusion in our workplace and the communities in which we operate.

Environment

In addition to seeking ways to reduce our own impact on the environment, we support clients in their objectives for a cleaner future. For example, we help clients in industries such as resources, telecommunications and transport manage their infrastructure assets using data analytics and technologies such as dronesInternet of Things and virtual reality.

Another way we support clients is through our work as a leader in environmental services in Australia. Over the past 35 years, we have worked on more than 140 major soil and sediment remediation projects in Australia, including some of the country’s largest and complex sites. We also provide environmental monitoring services to the water industry.

Sustainable procurement

Ventia is committed to supporting our clients to deliver great procurement outcomes, and drive continuous value, safety and performance from our supplier base through best-in-class, centre-led procurement. We base this on a foundation of ethical sourcing, transparent supplier engagement, effective systems and controls, and collaborative business partnering. Read more about our approach here

Diversity and inclusion

We are building a diverse and inclusive workplace that celebrates differences in gender, background, qualifications and experiences - and also differences in approach and viewpoints.

In particular, we are committed to increasing the participation of women and indigenous employees across our operations.

We’re proud of the strides we’ve made to improve female representation in our workforce but acknowledge that there is much more that needs to be done at Ventia and in our industry overall.

We are fully committed to reconciliation and respectful engagement with First Peoples across Australia and New Zealand. Broadspectrum, acquired by Ventia in mid-2020, launched its fourth Reconciliation Action Plan with Elevate status in 2018. Our combined business continues to build on these achievements.

Community

Our purpose is to make infrastructure work for our communities. For us this means building trust through open communication and regular engagement, providing community support, respecting areas of cultural significance, and minimizing our impact on the local environment. We also look to create social value by seeking out suppliers who operate ethically and create employment opportunities for minority groups.
