Ventia has achieved successful completion of the RAAF Base Pearce risk reduction package in Western Australia, supported by our Engineering Services (formerly ICD Asia Pacific) business. This project is part of a $150m investment from the Department of Defence (Defence) to retire known risks within the Defence Fuel Network (DFN).

The risk reduction package, which was originally designed as part of the Fuel Services Branch's Defence Fuels Transformation Program (DFTP) was funded through an Estate Work Program stimulus package offered as part of the effort to counteract the COVID-19 downturn in 2020.

The project was able to utilise a range of Ventia internal capabilities, working with Engineering Services on design and commissioning support, internal resources for project delivery and making use of our NSW industrial workshop as a fabrication partner for the installation in Western Australia.

Ventia's Engineering Services delivered the design and construct package on spec, in time, and on budget. Deliverables included initiatives that reduced both the project costs and the ongoing maintenance costs to Defence.

Consistantly delivering outcomes across Australia

Ventia is proud to provide engineering services to improve fuel infrastructure in support of Australia's Defence facilities. Fuel security is a key initiative within Defence, as evidenced by the $1.1bn DFTP, and more broadly, as Australia seeks to shore up strategic reserves.

Engineering Services have been delivering fuel projects at Defence locations around Australia for a number of years. Our team has received recognition on several occasions for the professional way in which projects have been delivered and for the collaborative approach of our engineers and project managers.

As is the largest provider of Defence estate support services and facilities management in Australia, Ventia performs a wide range of services for Defence - from fuel services through to firefighting, catering, domestic services and environmental services including PFAS remediation.

Risk Reduction Package at RAAF Base Pearce

Providing solutions through the risk reduction project

The risk reduction project builds on the success of Engineering Services fast flush project at RAAF Base Darwin and the team are looking forward to delivering on further projects in the future.

Trevor Walker, General Manager of Engineering Services said of the completion:

'We're proud to be involved with this important package of works. The combined capability of engineering, construction and operations under the one team allowed for a seamless delivery of this reliable, resilient infrastructure to Defence.'

Corina Glavan, Executive Director - Facilities, SDE for Defence's Fuel Services Branch expressed gratitude to the teams involved:

The project was completed on spec, in time, and on budget, despite three site closures due to the pandemic restrictions and bushfire. My gratitude goes to the Ventia project team and constructors, and Engineering Services who provided the technical support.
