This project required the installation of 160km of Fibre Optic Cable for new network infrastructure.

Depth of experience

Resource companies demand greater efficiencies and a smarter way to do business, to decrease costs and allow global business network integration, even at the most remote sites.

BHP Billiton Iron Ore (BHPBIO) awarded Ventia the Asset Development Project for the Port Hedland Inner Harbour Project (PHIHP) located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Ventia installed 160km of Fibre Optic Cable (FOC) for the new network infrastructure and at various locations in the Pilbara for the PHIHP asset development project. Ventia has undertaken various ICT works at the Port Hedland, Port Nelson Point, The New Mooka Siding, The New Jimblebar Mine, Sandhill Siding and Orebodies 18/24/25 Mine in Newman and various design interface and minor works in Newman for BHP Billiton Iron Ore Rail, Port and Mine businesses.

Ventia worked under mining resource conditions with close interactions with "Live" Port, Mine and Rail Operations during the construction phases.

Technology enabled solutions
The new network infrastructure will allow BHPBIOs expansion projects to continue without impacting Iron Ore Port Mine and Rail mining operations in the Pilbara. The benefits of this work will enable communications to link between the new mine at Jimblebar, the new Mooka Siding and other surrounding BHPBIO operations & mines to bring together the BHPBIO network. Ventia's expert knowledge and flexibility in the resourcing sector ensures we are a trusted partner across all of BHPBIO's ICT operations. Ventia currently have a 5 year framework agreement with BHPB Pilbara operations.
