Description
Ventia is leading a team of international Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and local engineering specialists to deliver more than 300 earth-moving and materials-handling vehicles to the ADF.
These 13 vehicle types – including cranes, excavators, dozers, telehandlers, and front-end loaders – require specific modifications to meet Australian conditions and ADF requirements, in particular for air transportability and water fording capability.
Ventia will also provide the technical support – including technical documentation and training courses for ADF personnel – required to commission these vehicles into service.
Scope of work
- Vehicle modification and supply: Deliver 300+ essential military support vehicles modified for Defence operations.
- Manufacturing collaboration: Bring together global OEMs and local subcontractors to provide Defence with a solution combining the best of Australian and international capabilities.
- Integrated logistics support: Deliver 260+ technical documents and develop and conduct training programs to familiarise ADF personnel with the new vehicles.
Project outcomes
- Enhanced Defence capability: Improved operational readiness for the ADF with specification improvements to vehicles and the first 100 vehicles delivered ahead of schedule.
- Economic impact: Significant local industry engagement and economic contribution through Australian supply chain spend in the order of $70 million. Including a $11.3 million dollar spend with Australian Veteran-owned SME.
- Sustainability and innovation: Reduction in environmental footprint and improved training efficiencies, including a reduction in training days from 522 to 327
- ADF recognition: Finalist recognition in the 2024 Australian Defence Industry Awards.
