Ventia has been awarded two contracts by Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) at their alumina refinery in Gladstone. The works to be delivered are an upgrade of the Sewage Treatment Plant and the Alkali Mist Reduction Project.

One of the largest alumina refineries in Australia, QAL's Gladstone refinery produces some 3.7 million tonnes of the world's best smelter grade alumina per year.

The  contracts incorporate supply of materials and multidiscipline labour for the upgrade of the existing sewage treatment plant, and structural strengthening work and pipework installations within the refinery. They build on the services Ventia already provides in the Gladstone region, including telecommunications and high voltage transmission services.

Ventia's General Manager Operations for Resources & Industrial, Darren Truscott, said our teams are deeply experienced in providing services throughout Australia in design and engineering, greenfield and brownfield projects, operations and maintenance and shutdown and turnarounds.

"We are committed to supporting the growth of Gladstone and we look forward to working with Queensland Alumina Limited on their projects."

Supporting local communities is important to us and there will be employment and business opportunities as part of our service delivery of these contracts.

Additionally, Ventia's Community Grants Program is open in the Gladstone region and calling for community groups to apply for grants up to $2,000.

Applications must be received before 30 June 2022. For more information visit https://ventia.com/page/community-grants
