Ventia has placed third in the 2024 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work (Property, Construction & Transport category).

The list recognises organisations in Australia and New Zealand that are pioneering new ways of working and pushing boundaries when it comes to workplace policies and practices.

The awards are judged by behavioural science consultancy Inventium and the assessment is underpinned by its Workplaces of the Future framework. The framework assesses the ten key factors that are critical to employees feeling motivated and engaged at work and how an organisation supports this.

Reflecting on Ventia's culture, Jodie Blake, GE – People Safety & Culture, expressed the company's aspirations for a culture that nurtures diversity and inclusion.

“We aspire to have a shared culture that nurtures ingenuity, prioritises safety, strengthens resilience, puts community front and centre, and encourages people to grow in new and exciting directions”, said Jodie.

“This allows us to foster and ensure a fair, respectful and inclusive workplace that supports equality, and embraces and leverages diversity”.

We also focus on people’s abilities, rather than disabilities, to ensure they have access to meaningful careers and to help break the cycle of disadvantage

“We’re thrilled to have received this recognition and look forward to continuing our collective journey as a great place to work,” added Jodie.

How to create an inclusive workplace culture

Promote diversity and actively seek to hire employees from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Implement inclusive policies and practices that address bias, discrimination, and harassment.

Provide diversity and inclusion training for employees to raise awareness and foster understanding of different perspectives and experiences.

Encourage open and respectful communication, where all employees feel heard and valued.

Recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
