Our sustainability strategy provides a roadmap for our sustainability ambition and has three focus areas: environment - creating a healthier planet, social - people and community; and governance - being ethical and accountable in everything we do.

Our commitment to net zero

In support of our commitment to achieving net zero emissions and helping our clients reduce their emissions, Ventia has become a signatory to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), the world's largest and fastest-growing group of companies that are aligning to halve global emissions by 2030. 

The SBTi - a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies' targets. 

Alexandra Monson, Group Manager Sustainability says that climate action was the highest priority identified in our sustainability materiality assessment and the SBTi provides the framework and tools to achieve our ambition of net zero. 

"We sought feedback from our people and clients through a materiality assessment which identified our most significant materiality issues," says Alexandra. 

Climate action was the key priority from all stakeholders and Ventia's sustainability targets have been aligned to ensure we are focused on meeting the expectations of our people, clients, investors and communities.

"We are committed to setting emissions reduction and net-zero targets  in line with science-based net-zero with the Science Based Target initiative and through the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign. This commitment is a key driver in our pathway to net zero as we develop our targets and roll out initiatives to deliver deep cuts in emissions.'

Sustainability in action 

Our clients, the community, and our people are looking for bold action. We have set our commitments, are developing our targets, and we are on the journey to achieve our ambition to lead the way and embrace every opportunity for sustainable action.

Ventia will release its Sustainability Report in March where we'll share further detail of our sustainability goals and progress.
