For more than 40 years, Ventia has provided vital infrastructure services in the Pilbara region. And along the way, we've developed a close genuine relationship with the region's communities.

"At Ventia, our purpose is to make infrastructure work for our communities," says Ventia CEO Dean Banks.

For more than a decade, we've supported local community groups in the Pilbara region through our Community Grants program.

"In addition to announcing our grant recipients, we also launched our new Reconciliation Action Plan artwork, which was developed by students from Karratha Senior High School."

Creating ‘Connections’ with students at Karratha Senior High School

It was an inspiring effort between Karratha Senior High School students, local Elders, Stars and Clontarf Foundations and artists from Juluwarlu Art Group to create the stunning artwork for Ventia’s new Reconciliation Action Plan.

The artwork, titled ‘Connections’ depicts the landscape, sea, its plentiful bush tucker and bush medicine that has nourished the peoples of this land for over 60,000 years.

Karratha High Senior High School Principal Ashley Eversden said the school was honoured to be a part of Ventia’s reconciliation journey.

"We are grateful to Ventia for their support and for their commitment to reconciliation," says Ashley.

This artwork is a symbol of our shared commitment to continue building a more inclusive and equitable community.

Chair of Ventia’s Indigenous Advisory Board, Eddie Fry, who attended the launch event in Karratha, said reconciliation was a critical part of building a better future for all Australians.

"Reconciliation is not an easy or straight-forward process," says Eddie. "But it's essential that we work together to create a better future for our children and grandchildren.

"I am proud to be a part of Ventia's reconciliation journey and I am excited to see what we can achieve together."

Community Grants awarded to local groups

A living example of Ventia's commitment to the communities in which we operate is evidenced by our community grants.

This program provides grants of up to $2,000 to groups that deliver projects and activities that benefit the community.

This year, grants were provided to:

  • Earbus Foundation of Western Australia
  • Dampier Taverners Cricket Club
  • Karratha Enduro & Motocross Club
  • Karratha Gymnastics Club
  • Karratha Little Athletics
  • Karratha Netball Association
  • Newman Scout Group

Over an informal afternoon tea at Dampier Community Hall, the Ventia team met with representatives from the community groups and learnt more about the important work they do in supporting a thriving local Pilbara community.

We look forward to our ongoing connection with the region.
