Ventia's Macdonaldtown Gasworks Remediation has received industry recognition at the recent EcoForum conference for its sustainability initiatives and environmental leadership.
The project took out the Sustainable Remediation Forum Australia and New Zealand (SuRF ANZ) Sustainable Remediation Project Recognition Award and the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association's (ALGA) Clean Up Project Excellence Award.
Both awards recognise high quality remediation planning and practice - with the SuRF award encouraging discussion, consideration and uptake of sustainability principles in remediation and the ALGA award rewarding excellence in land and groundwater remediation.
Nan-Maree Schoerie, General Manager Utility Services, Ventia said, "Our commitment to sustainability in the remediation field sets us apart, and we are humbled to be recognised by Australia and New Zealand's peak remediation industry bodies for the work that we have completed at Macdonaldtown, in Sydney's inner west.
"Our team worked closely with all stakeholders, our client RailCorp, and the local community as part of this complex remediation project to restore the historic gasholder and leave the land safe for future use."
It is exciting to be recognised as a leader in this field.
