Cox Peninsula remediation project wins Engineers Australia’s Excellence Award

Mark Bennett, Ray Thompson and David Bax with the Engineers Australia Project Management award

Our Cox Peninsula remediation project has won the Northern Engineering Excellence Award for Project Management.

Ventia demonstrated project management excellence against the judging criteria which included:

  • Economy - time management and fiscal prudence meant the publicly funded project was completed eight months ahead of schedule and within budget
  • Community - a 35% Australian and Torres Strait Islander participation rate against a Commonwealth target of 15%
  • Significance of work - community engagement and monitoring to preserve the site's Aboriginal and European cultural heritage
  • World best practice - the use of three different remediation methods: Directly-heated Thermal Desorption (DTD), chemical immobilisation and disposal to an onsite containment cell.
