A popular thoroughfare for Northern Beaches Hospital visitors, staff, local school children and the local community is the site of a new initiative supporting valued employment for people with a disability.

As part of the provision of Facilities Management services to the client Healthscope, Ventia maintains the landscaping around the brand-new hospital in Frenches Forest, Sydney. 

Project Director Jonathan Woodman and his team were excited to bring the north-shore based not-for-profit organisation Bushlink on-board, to manage the maintenance and conservation of the landscaping. 

Minister for Health, the Hon. Brad Hazzard stopped by the hospital to meet Bushlink employees Adrian and Robbie (pictured) who have been working hard on the landscaping. One section of the site includes a strip of native bushland close to the Minister's heart.

The conservation of land, which flanks the hospital and its outskirts, was advocated for by the Minister as it was enjoyed by the community and was home to local wildlife.

Operated by Northside Enterprise Incorporated, Bushlink provide meaningful employment for people with disability under their mantra 'The Spirit of Inclusion'. Bushlink also encourage workplaces and communities to create a culture of inclusion.

"We are extremely proud of Bushlink's excellent work on this project and feel privileged to have met such talented individuals like Adrian and Robbie," said Jonathan Woodman.

Opened to the public on 30 October 2018, the Northern Beaches Hospital was built specifically to provide world class contemporary care and services. It is the largest hospital the region has ever seen, with 488 rooms where each has a view of Sydney's northern beaches.
