Known as the Q Stores in Defence circles, the Quartermasters Store plays a vital role supporting Defence members with day-to-day equipment requirements and in preparing for mission-specific training or as they prepare to deploy.

At Ventia, our Retail Stores team help ensure the Q Stores operate seamlessly and recently the team  at Lavarack Barracks in Queensland received excellent feedback from Defence for consistently going further to support serving members .

Lavarack Barracks Q Store team lead Jordan received glowing client feedback highlighting the team’s customer service excellence, timely and accurate governance and outstanding organisation, inventory planning and control. Defence also noted an immaculately presented site, resource allocations and being cost conscious to reduce overheads where possible.

Northern Queensland Area Supervisor Glenn Ralph said, “the team have worked extremely hard and consulted with Defence members directly to improve the running of this Q Store with an almost entirely new team that started in January”.

Team leader Jordan was promoted from her previous role at the health centre site on Lavarack Barracks. Dwayne and Millie, both with Defence backgrounds, joined the site more recently, bringing a wealth of knowledge. Site 2IC Penny played a significant role leveraging her experience running the site.

Glenn called out the work done by Jordan and her teammates Dwayne, Penny and Millie.

Each day the team demonstrates their strong understanding of the complexities and importance of the quartermaster’s role supervising logistics and requisitions.

We have managed the Retail Store Services contract for Defence for over 10 years across 38  locations in Australia. Integrating both traditional and modern logistics solutions, the contract provides a core logistics function managing a range of ADF equipment including inventory management to support the storage, issue and sale of Defence clothing items; combat uniforms and equipment; specialist kitting activities for training, exercises and operational requirements.

The team provides forward deployment support with in-field environments including the provision of high security items and explosive ordnance.

We also manage a provision of local on-base distribution services including furniture removal.

Behind the scenes you will find us busy supporting Defence personnel and contractors seeking stores and equipment, arranging technical inspections to ensure accountability and sound maintenance of inventory and the responsible disposal of equipment that is no longer required or is being replaced.

We pride ourselves on allowing the ADF to focus on their strategic objectives while we deliver essential services to Defence communities - the Retail Stores team performance is a great example of this strategy in action.
