If you shared or are sharing pictures or videos live from any of the following events in Melbourne you've got the Visionstream Optus Wireless Project (OWP) team to thank!
- Carols by Candlelight - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
- New Year Eve's 2016 celebrations
- Australian Open 2017
- White Night (18 -19 February)
- Moomba Festival (10 -13 March).
The team have installed a transportable cell tower, or Cell on Wheels (COW) that ensures continuous and enhanced Optus 4G mobile coverage at the events.
The COW caters for major events, where phone and data usage are at higher than normal levels. To deploy one COW can be likened to building almost three permanent mobile sites capacity wise within a week.
"We are very pleased to see another successful deployment of the COW by our OWP team," says Richard Kelleway, CEO, Visionstream.
Installing these towers is a mammoth task and it is a testament to the dedication and hard work of this team that the COW was in place one week ahead of schedule.
The tower will continue to bring enhanced coverage to the precinct until March 2017.
