Rig and Well Services has enhanced its drilling capability through the upgrade and refurbishment of its Advantage Drilling Rig 101.

Rig and Well Services'  workshop team in Toowoomba have upgraded Rig 101's mast and drawworks to increase the hoisting capacity to 260,000 pounds, increasing the rig's capability to drill depths to 3,000 metres.

As well as installing new high-pressure pipework and adding a second shaker and mud system for increased fluid storage, the rig also received extensive maintenance to all ancillary equipment to improve operational capacity and ensure industry compliance and reliability.

Specialising in production and coring wells, the rig is capable of directional and pad drilling, as well as under-balanced air drilling and coring, making it a versatile and efficient solution for varying operational requirements.

Rig and Well Services General Manager Operations Luke Smith said: "We are transferring our learnings and capability from coal seam gas drilling into the deeper oil and gas markets operating outside CSG."

While we will maintain modular capability to operate on shallow wells, in the larger configuration, Rig 101 will be very well suited to drilling up to 3,000 metre wells and will provide significant rig move efficiency and cost savings for our clients.

Following the completion of the upgrade this month, Rig 101 will drill wells for Senex Energy and Armour Energy.
