In a great example of collaboration and leveraging internal capability, our Energy Networks and Renewables business is utilising the expertise of our Rig & Well Services trade teams to build trailers and refurbish trucks used to service electrical networks on mine sites for customers in Central Queensland and South-East Queensland. 

In recent months the teams have manufactured several heavy-duty, box tipping trailers which are used to transport a variety of products to worksites, including soil and gravel for power pole stabilization or remediation works. The tipping function of the trailers reduces manual handling of products.

Additionally, our teams have also rebuilt two trucks with elevated work platforms to the latest safety and performance specifications. The trucks have elevated work platforms that are used to service and maintain energy networks, performing repairs, pole inspections, power line replacements and general maintenance work to ensure power is delivered from the grid to business and homes.

Ventia's General Manager for Energy Networks and Renewables, Agathe Gross said the rebuild of the trucks allows the team to replace plant that is currently difficult to source and provides a cost saving to Ventia not having to immediately replace existing equipment.

The cost saving to the business is significant, saving more than $400,000 per truck and extending the life of each vehicle by an additional five years.

'Following the success of the last two rebuilds, we have scheduled more rebuilds over the next couple of years." 

Ventia's General Manager Rig & Well Services, Kyle Koziol said the trailers and trucks were fresh projects for our workshop trade teams who are skilled at building rigs and other energy and resources equipment.
